We’ve settled on a prize for this contest: an HP 12C Financial Calculator.

The contest, which ends Wednesday night, is still wide open. Consider taking a moment to post an idea between now and then if you haven’t already. Again, if you’re not registered yet, you can do so in ten seconds by entering a user name and e-mail address here.
I’d also like to take a moment to recognize two Short Screen commenters in particular, Avoidthegarbage and Hesperian. At the New York demo last night, I highlighted Avoidthegarbage’s prescient call on JBII, and a number of attendees were impressed. Based on that track record, I’m looking forward to drilling down a little deeper on Avoidthegarbage’s most recent short idea, DJSP. One attendee, a hedge fund manager who runs fund that he said was currently net short, mentioned one of his short ideas, Medifast, and I showed him that MED was one of Hesperian’s short picks as well — another example of Hesperian thinking like a short-savvy hedge fund manager.
Also, as I noted in the comment thread of a previous post, I had the pleasure of meeting Stockdoxc/Dr. Paul Price last night as well. Paul posted a couple of interesting ideas recently as well — stocks that seem like they might be good short candidates from a fundamental as well as macro perspective.
